Georgia Peach

Yay! Again, per the bump.com:

Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (Much more convenient.)

Awww. Sweet peach. I just love this site's "How Big Is Baby?" link. It's so cute!!

We had a scare on Friday, omg! We went in for our a.m. monthly appointment to hear the peach's heartbeat...however, she couldn't find it on the doppler. Her questions, her continuing to try to find it, and the look on her face made me realize that while it may be perfectly normal in there, they were still definitely going to check it out on the ultrasound to make sure the heart was, in fact, still beating. They couldn't get me into ultrasound until 2:30, though, so we had to go to work between the appointments.

GOD, SCARY! Even though I know this *might* be a common thing to not find the heartbeat at 13 weeks, it is still so scary when it happens to YOU!! I was secretly freaking out although to those that know me well, it may have been obvious I was nervous breakdowning :) The good news is the ultrasound was fine and peach's heart was beating right along! :) Yay! FarmBaby lives on!! Of course I was so happy I was crying in front of the ultrasound lady so hopefully she doesn't think I'm completely crazy :)

So that was our excitement for the week. Even if it was scary, it was still so nice for Kurt & I to see the sweet babe's face, body and heartbeat (yay!) on the monitor. It has changed so much since our last ultrasound at 8.5 weeks. He/she has his/her little hand in front of his/her little mouth. Isn't that so cute??

On a lighter note (well...heavier note, actually), I'm coming to the realization the clothes just aren't fitting so cute anymore so I did buy a bella band to cover the fact my jeans/pants no longer zip OR button. HAHA! I see a Motherhood shopping trip in my future... I have also been working on cleaning out my drawers for our impending move. It's pretty comical to realize it will probably be a YEAR before I fit into most of the stuff again. Yikes!

Plumness :)

As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed.

Sweet plum baby!! It seems like the baby is getting big now! From the outside, trust me, it looks bigger than a plum.

Belle came up with another boy name we (even Kurt!!!) really like: Emmett. She's really good at coming up with random names, actually! For every good one, there is usually a not so good one, though, but it's hilarious. I won't post the "bad ones" so as not to offend anyone...you know, in case anyone wants to name their baby Aurora or Ariel.

For girls, we still have my faves, Jane and Alice.

Mucho love!
~Us

P.S. Seriously I think everyone I know is preggo with sweet babes!!! :) Well, not EVERYONE but a lot of my/our friends. I am beyond overjoyed! Yay preggos!!! If you are one of these preggos, congrats! :) :)

Bye bye, Trimester Uno :)

Yay!! We made it!! Most everyone knows 12 weeks is when your risk of miscarriage goes WAYYYY down. So needless to say, we are relieved and thankful for farmbaby!

Trimester Numero Dos means out with the old, in with the new! Goodbye tiredness, hello weight gain! Apparently, I'm not overly concerned judging by what I ate today: a pear, Belle and I shared some popcorn at Waterpark car wash (God, it tasted good for some reason), Tantra Kung Pao Noodles (=Love), Whitey's Coffee Toffee and Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream, Rudy's veggie tacos. I did throw up a lot of the Rudy's, though...so not sure if I should count that as actually eating it? Hmmm...I'm going to say yes. Sorry for the graphicness and T.M.I but it is a pregnancy blog after all. :) I don't have "morning sickness" per se...but I do randomly throw up about 1-2 times per week; usually it happens after I eat. Ew!! LOL! It doesn't really bother me too much because I feel great after I throw up. Weird, I know!

My worst preggo symptom is I am not sleeping well AT ALL. I realized I need to go back to yoga! I sleep and feel soooo much better when I yoga. The issue is that after work I am SOOOO exhausted that I cannot wait to come home and lie down on the couch and cat nap. Like I truly can't think of anything else nor stop myself from constant napping!! A couple times I was scared I'd fall asleep on I-280 before I could get home to nap (fine, it's most days). Normally, I like to roll vampire-style and catch like 3 hours of sleep per night...NEVER taking naps. Farmbaby must be tired because I doze off more than hibernating bear. *growl* Then, I miraculously wake up around 1am and cannot fall asleep yet I'm too tired to get up. LOL. How ridiculous! Anyway, yoga will definitely help this and I miss my yogini friends and teachers, many of whom I saw today at the health fair and love dearly! :)

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL DAD'S ON SUNDAY! I hope everyone has a wonderful day!! We'll be picnicking (sp?) at West Lake with my awesome dad. He rocks it hardcore. We ALWAYSSS go to the River Bandits games on Father's Day but this year, the banditos are playing out of town. So we decided to do the picnic and horse shoe games in lieu of the game. I even made stuff!!!!! For reals!!! I went to the store, bought everything we need to grill and picnic and made a salad and chopped up additional veggies. Oh and I MADE ranch dip. OMG!

Much love to y'all!!

Us :)

Still Week 11

Hola! Week 11 is moving right along. The weather is beautiful and being a teacher with the summers off would be AWESOME right about now. :) Too bad I have no teaching degree nor the self-discipline to live on a teacher's salary. Oops!

No exciting baby news to report from us. Today the ticker said, "Your little ones eyes are open wide." I thought that was purely adorable. Awww...

Kurt hasn't decided if we'll find out if they baby is a boy or a girl. I'm perfectly fine with either way, but I'm impatient to know his decision. Ha. I did find some cute neutral bedding online that I love...it has a vintage look, which I adore. If we do find out if it's a boy or a girl, though, I'll likely go way overboard on the blues and pinks.

Much love,
Us :)

Needs to Stop

OMG. For the past two nights, here is the scenerio: Around dinnertime I'm super hungry but nothing sounds good...to the point I seriously cannot eat. I'm not throwing up or anything like that but just not feeling it. I made myself eat some rice cakes tonight but it didn't help. Both nights, I RANDOMLY lay down to "rest my eyes" and fall asleep around 7:30 (this is NOT like me at all) and can't get back up. Miraculously wake up at midnight or so STARVING and cannot get the thought of food and fruit out of my mind! I try to ignore it to no avail. See why I need the fruit stockage?

So tonight I finally give in around 1am and have some veggie chicken, like 8 strawberries, a couple dozen blackberries, nectarine and a Canada Dry Raspberry Sparking Water (= love). I am pretty sure this isn't normal behavior. I'm no health guru but I can recall midnight snacking not being great for your metabolism or sleep.

Haha. I just thought this was kind of funny so I should post. All of the above is NOTHING like me. The only time I go to bed at 7:30 is if I'm partying somewhere during the day (e.g. Cubs game). For a vegetarian I regretfully don't eat very much fruit, especially not in these huge binges...so I guess that is probably good?

The bad thing is that when morning comes around, Kurt prances out of bed and immediately starts his (very loud) weekend cleaning regime while I'm dead tired from my midnight fruit and blog binge! I'm going to have to cut this lil plan of his in the a.m. :)

Love,
Moi

Yay for Limes

Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through. But, fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

Awww. A lime, eh? I look like I swallowed an NFL regulation-size football. Well, maybe not quite that big...but almost!

The baby and I had a MARVELOUS time at the Kenny Chesney concert last night with Jessica and Jeri!!!! We had some O'Douls ::cues Aerosmith's Livin on the Edge:: and a pretzel. Wow, never thought I'd eat anything but poisonous Bud Light from The Mark at the Kenny shows. Yes, I actually ATE at the Kenny concert. I did have this lil snack before Kenny came on stage, during one of the breaks. Obviously I couldn't eat DURING KENNY as I was SCREAMING non-stop from the 3rd row. I'm glad to find out I'm a fun preggo! I had just as much fun as all the other years when I've been shall we say, more than a little tipsy! The important thing was my True Religions still fit (DOUBLE YAY) but my guess is they are soon to be shelved (along with their TR siblings) for several months. Also my hottie belt with the "Dixie on my Mind" buckle still fit and I rocked it with my awesome boots. :) :)

10+ Weeks = Yay!

So yah, we are over 10 weeks now :) The bambina/o is a "prune," according to thebump.com. Not that it's purple and wrinkly or anything...they are just comparing size. Here is what it says:
With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)

Awww...

OMG I am more than a lil' ready to hit the miraculous 12 weeks mark. Times were all in black & white and people lived in caves when I was pregnant with Belle. Oh, I was also freakin' 22 and had nothing better to do than read baby books, go to the mall and sleep after work. I guess my point is that I DO NOT REMEMBER BEING THIS TIRED the first time around. Seriously! I must have thought other preggos were making up this insane amount of tiredness during the first trimester because I certainly wasn't expecting it. Granted, hello I do know the tiredness gets worse after the baby arrives :) I haven't forgotten that part! Right now, though, the thought of walking to the car and driving is really too much, let alone working out or doing my beloved yoga! I'm guessing it's a combination of being so much older (ugh) and running Belle here, there and everywhere, arguing with her about bedtimes, playdates and whatnot that really drains a preggo! :)

I don't have too many weird cravings except at night before bed I die for fruit (esp. raspberries and raspberry-flavored stuff). It's soooooo weird. I'm a vegetarian and while I do like fruit, I kind of like to live on non-healthy vegetarian items (i.e. chips, rice cakes, gardenburgers, cereal, etc). Right now, I cannot even live without raspberries at night or blackberries or strawberries. The thought of my fridge being fruitless is something I just cannot deal with right now. LOL. Anyone who knows me knows this is not my style. I HATE going to the grocery store with a passion! But tonight I did go...impromptu...in my pajamas! I drove into town to pick up Belle's script via the DRIVE-THRU. That's when I remembered I had no godforesaken raspberries! So I said screw it and rocked the jam's into HY-VEE. This might not sound horrible to you but you also don't know what I was wearing: Pink Cubs fleect over a white t-shirt, purple and green striped Karen Neuberger (spell?) pants and bright yellow suede loafers. I'M NOT KIDDING AND I'M DYING JUST THINKING OF IT (now that I've eaten an entire carton of raspberries). This just goes to show that preggo raspberry cravings must be fed, regardless of the associated embarrassment! Kill me!

Mucho love to y'all!

Us ;)

Week 9: The Olive

Well, we all survived the rain in Disney and my alleged week-long swine flu :) Even thought it rained all the time, we still had fun. The only issue was not being able to comfort my rainy-day hatred with tequila-infused margaritas over dinner.

We had an ultrasound last Friday and all is well (yay!!!) and confirmed there is only one little Olive in there! I'm still tired and starving but only the tired part is new (and is also the reason why I haven't been posting any late-night blogs)! :D

Belle is still convinced the baby will be named either Penelope or Kevin, so we've been calling him/her "Kevin" for the past couple of weeks. lol. She also loves Stella but that is our friends' dog's name and Kurt's mom said it sounds like a witch name. I can now see why people keep their baby names a secret... Just kidding, I will NOT do this :) b/c I think it's super annoying when others say "it's a surprise/secret" when I actually care enough to ask what their favorite names are for their baby. It just seems rude to me but then again, I wouldn't make any comments such as "It sounds like a witch name," or "My drug-addict friends' boyfriend had that name before he overdosed!" etc. I would either love the name or pretend like I did :)

If you hate the names below, or think they sound "witchy," I'm so truly sorry! :P

My faves for a girl are Jane and Alice. I had manyyyyy other girl faves but couldn't get Kurt to commit to not hating them. He has not ruled out Jane or Alice, and those were my two fave names, so I am happy. The only boy name we agree on is Ethan and we agreed on that right away. So, obviously we have several months to discuss this but I still thought it would be kind of fun to post :)

Hope all is well with everyone!

Mucho love,
Us :)
